TGS Kidz Academy takes many precautions and is committed to ensuring a safe and secure environment for our families and caregivers. The safety of the children in our care is our number one priorit y. To ensure the safety, security and well being of the children in our care, TGS Kidz Academy has procedures and standards in place to cover pick-up and drop-off, visitors, equipment and furniture safety, transporting children and more. We use ProCare’s innovative photo gallery for easy identification of children, parents and authorized pickup persons. These procedures are periodically reviewed and updated to make certain they reflect the most current safety and security technology and practices.
Additional Security Measures:
Secure front entrance with keypad access.
Open door policy for parents.
All center visitors are accompanied by the Director and must sign guest log and wear a badge for easy identification.
All teachers and staff are certified in first aid and CPR.
Applicant background studies completed on every employee before being hired.
Academy staff trained to watch for safety hazards and correct them immediately.
Regular visits by TGS Kidz Academy Management Personnel.
Academy Directors conduct regular fire, tornado, and evacuation drills with the children
Parental permission obtained before pets or animals visit the center.
Medical Standards
The Academy Medical Standards provide evidence of good health with a signed physical examination, tuberculosis test, and other state-mandated requirements of all employees. All medical records are periodically updated. Staff members do not work if they are ill.
As for the children, we maintain a complete written record for each child in our care. Pertinent health histories (such as allergies, chronic conditions or susceptibilities) are also required. All health records, immunization records and emergency contacts are kept up to date and easily accessible in case of emergency.
Food Safety
Our Food Preparation Specialists are trained in the safe handling, preparation and storage of foods and are constantly monitored to ensure safe nutritious meals. Serving safe food to children and participating in the Child Care Food Program is as important as serving well-balanced and appetizing meals. Preventing food borne illness is a top priority for our child care staff that prepares and serves meals to the children.
The Academy follows the food safety and sanitation procedures listed below to prevent and protect children from food borne illness.
A. Know and follow local health department food safety requirements.
B. To ensure proper storing and receiving food: 1. Adequate and safe storage space is available for all food and non-food supplies. 2. Foods purchased and received is: a. Wholesome b. Free from spoilage c. Packaged safely and free from damage
C. Received and stored at safe temperatures
D. Practice good personal hygiene. 1. Wash hands frequently 2. Keep outer clothing clean 3. Use a hairnet or hat – required for center staff
E. Handle food in a safe and sanitary manner. 1. Clean – wash hands and surfaces often 2. Separate – don’t cross-contaminate 3. Cook – cook foods to proper temperatures 4. Chill – refrigerate foods promptly
Transportation
We follow all state mandated procedures as well as our own safety and security measures for transporting your little ones.
For example we provide/ require:
• Seat belts, safety seats and weight-appropriate child passenger restraints in accordance with vehicle safety standards
• A valid driver’s license of driver
• Written permission from parents to transport their child
•Each child has a name tag with all of the Academy information on it to wear during the trip
Equipment and Furniture Safety
The building, playground, and equipment are as safe as we can make them. There are state requirements for childcare centers that must be met for indoor and outdoor equipment and furniture. Our Academy is child friendly - child sized tables and chairs are sturdy and 'non tip able.' There are no sharp corners. Toys and learning areas are carefully arranged. Equipment is monitored on an on-going basis to ensure it is in good working order.
